Since its foundation, FAUNAGUA has carried out expeditions and field work. This type of work, much of which is conducted in remote areas with difficult access, demands a lot of human and logistical effort. We invite people, organizations, companies to support some of our activities that allow us to better conserve natural resources and endangered species, and that allow us to innovate in applied research.

In particular, we are interested in receiving funds for the following activities:
Expeditions in the different rivers of the Bolivian Amazon to count the Bolivian dolphin (Bolivian bufeo)
Applying standardized methods (visual observations) or with drones. In recent years FAUNAGUA has organized more than 20 expeditions in the Iténez, Mamoré, Ichilo, Chapare, Negro, Blanco, San Martin rivers. On the one hand, we want to expand this work to rivers so far unexplored, mainly in the Amazonian headwaters. On the other hand, we have chosen four river sections (Ichilo, San Martin, Iténez, Mamoré rivers) where we intend to carry out annual counts, to know population trends and identify threats or risks for the species. An expedition has an approximate cost of US $ 10,000.
Studies on the biology and migration of Amazonian fish and mammals.
FAUNAGUA has been conducting studies that allow us to know the migration patterns and population trends of aquatic fish and mammal species, using innovative methods such as drones, telemetry and satellite transmitters. One of the objectives of these studies is to know the vulnerability of species to threats and to know their conservation status. In particular, we are interested in knowing the movements of the Bolivian dolphin threatened by the construction of hydroelectric dams, and the movements of an invasive species, invading the fragile basin of the Iténez river.
FAUNAGUA carried out long-term projects in the Iténez, Caine-Grande, Mamoré and Manuripi, Pilcomayo, Bermejo and Paraguay river basins.
These works have generated knowledge and experiences of conservation and management of microbasins, based on participation and governance. In particular, FAUNAGUA is active in the micro basins of the Tunari National Park, where, within the framework of societal platforms, we contribute to the integrated management of water resources.
